Dr. Funtlicher is a medical doctor, who works at Paradise Hospital, who takes care of the members of Paradise PD, whenever they're injured, sick, or comatose. He is one of the few good people in Paradise, as he is a thoroughly competent doctor, who does his job right. He first appeared in "Welcome to Paradise". He is voiced by Tom Kenny.
Biography
In "Welcome to Paradise", he took care of Dusty, when he was shot by a bunch of bullets. He brought forth some good news, saying that because he was so fat, none of the bullets even broke through his eighth layer of fat skin, so he didn't even get hurt. Dusty sneezed, sending all the bullets inside of him, flying out of him, every which way, destroying the entire hospital room.
In "Ass on the Line", he took care of Kevin, when his face was clawed off by a dog. He notified him that his heart would not be in the right place for a few days.
In "Meet the Jabowskis", he diagnoses Gina with "Bitch Be Crazy Disease", and says that it's because she was shot in the head as a child, and the bullet is still lodged in her brain. He mentions that his ex-husband left him and that he attempted suicide afterward, claiming it was caused by BBCD.
In "Parent Trap", Dusty becomes a Native American and threatens to scalp Dr. Funtlichter for stealing his land. Dr. Funtlichter claimed to actually be a Nigerian, who bleached his skin so that he could get accepted into Trump University. At Paradise Hospital, Dr. Funtlichter and his nurse take care of Fitz, while he's in his coma.
In "Christmas in Paradise", he continues to take care of Fitz, while he's in his coma. When Kevin pulled the plug on him, thinking it was the plug to a coffee maker, Dr. Funtlichter and his nurse rushed to his aide, and freaked out, not knowing what was causing him to flat line. When Kevin plugged Fitz back in, Dr. Funtlichter and the nurse celebrated in relief.
Later, Dr. Funtlichter rushed Gina to the hospital after she got a stomach bug from licking Dusty's anus.
Shortly after Fitz awakens from his coma, Dr. Funtlichter enters, dressed as a clown, which immediately scares him back into a coma again. Kevin gets mad at Dr. Funtlichter and assumes he was dressing as a clown to cheer up cancer kids but Dr. Funtlichter says that he just got back from watching Insane Clown Posse play at a Gathering of the Juggalos.
Dr. Funtlichter also sings "Jolly Old St. Nicholas" with the other citizens of Paradise at the Christmas tree lighting.
In "Paradise Found", Randall hires Dr. Funtlichter to revamp the evidence locker into a precog chamber. Dr. Funtlichter admits that he only got some precogs as an excuse to kidnap runaways, shave their heads, and keep them in a kiddie pool. Bullet complains about not having access to illegal drugs anymore and Dr. Funtlichter suggests he try legal drugs like Adderall. Dr. Funtlichter carelessly dishes out a ton of Adderall prescriptions to some kids to complete abandon, claiming that these drugs help increase the children's intelligence and excitement. He also adds that the effects of Adderall work better if they snort it.
Dr. Funtlichter is later seen in the audience, attending Randall and Karen's wedding.
In "Big Ball Energy", Randall goes to see Dr. Funtlichter, to tell him that Karen has a ball fetish and due to his lack of testicles, he is unable to satisfy her. Dr. Funtlichter took this as an invitation to fuck his wife but Randall corrects him and says that he just wants a testicle transplant. Dr. Funtlichter gladly puts Randall at the top of the donor list, allowing for him to receive the testicles of the next male to die in Paradise. Dr. Funtlichter also notes that he owns a couple of celebrity balldoes, resembling the testicles of Don Lemon and Ice-T, which he often mixes together in a combination he refers to as the "Arnold Ball-mer".
After Randall grows impatient of waiting for a ball donor, he calls Dr. Funtlichter and demands an immediate transplant. Dr. Funtlichter tells him he can buy some testicles at the black market. Randall comes back with a bag full of testicles that he stole from a guy at the black market and passes out in the hospital. When he awakens, Dr. Funtlichter told him that he performed the surgery according to the robbery note he had with him reading "PUT ALL THE BALLS IN MY SACK!", which made him think it was a good idea to fill Randall's scrotum with hundreds of testicles, which Randall ended up actually loving.
In "Flip the Vote", Dr. Funtlichter appeared when Fitz made a dolphin pun, claiming he loves urban comedy and then again when Fitz pretended to change his evil ways as a fake out. Dr. Funtlichter laughed at Fitz's bait and switch joke and said be on the Def Jam.
In "Operation DD", Dr. Funtlichter was one of the candidates to get into the bomb shelter. Bullet said that it was a necessity to bring a doctor into the new society and while Dusty was thankful that Dr. Funtlichter got his cholesterol down to four digits, he was still holding a grudge against him for an incident that took place on August 4th, 1999, when Dr. Funtlichter laughed at him for splitting his pants. Dusty decided that Dr. Funtlichter deserves to die a fiery death and sent him sadly walking away.
Appearance
Dr. Funtlichter is a white-passing African-American old man with neatly combed silver hair and a mustache. According to a comment he made in "Parent Trap", the reason for his pale skin is because he bleached his flesh. Dr. Funtlichter wears glasses, a white lab coat, a turquoise shirt, a deep-sea green tie, a dark brown belt with a yellow buckle, light brown khakis, gray shoes with black bottoms, and a plain nametag with no name on it.
Personality
Dr. Funtlichter is a medical doctor, who is very dedicated to his job. He is very helpful in aiding his patients when they're in need, no matter how ridiculous and over the top their problems may be. Unfortunately, Dr. Funtlichter is a bit of a dimwit and his stupidity sometimes fucks up his work. However, even though Dr. Funtlichter occasionally messes up, he never does it intentionally. Deep down, he's a good-hearted doctor who would never dream of hurting anyone on purpose. At the end of the day, Dr. Funtlichter's career is filled with more successes than failures, making him a great and respectable figure in the medical field.
