Farzar is a Netflix series created by Roger Black and Waco O'Guin, which is aired on July 15th, 2022. It is a fantasy/sci-fi comedy series about an intergalactic anti-hero named Renzo and his crew, protecting their human city in a dome from various evil aliens.
Farzar is a spiritual successor of Paradise PD, having the same creators. Like Brickleberry, Farzar shares many of the same carbon-copy characters, plots, and locations as Paradise PD and does fall into the same style of comedy and storytelling as the former shows, though not quite to the same degree, still distancing itself just a bit from the previous shows, when it comes to a few specific elements here and there.
Premise[]
Farzar is an outrageous sci-fi comedy that follows corrupt czar, Renzo and his intergalactic space warrior crew, S.H.A.T., as they venture out of their domed human city to fight the evil aliens that want to kill and/or eat them. As they begin their journey, Renzo's dim-witted yet pure-hearted son, Prince Fichael quickly discovers the dark truth about his father.
Production[]
Farzar was announced to the public on January 29th, 2021, when Netflix Tweeted a promotional poster for the show, saying that a new show made by Paradise PD show runners, Roger Black and Waco O'Guin would be hitting the streaming service, after the duo signed a multi-year partnership with the company. The official trailer dropped on June 8th, 2022, announcing that the show would officially premiere on July 15th, 2022, which it did.
References to Paradise P.D. in Farzar[]
- In "St. Pudchugger's Day", Renzo attempted to make a clone of himself and ended up creating Agent Clappers, who made finger guns and exclaimed "Bing bang boom, dick titties!". Renzo said that this clone sounded nothing like him, making a joke on how they share the same voice actor, Lance Reddick, who gives both characters the same voice and speech pattern.
- In "The Adventures of Daddy O'Baggins", Queen Flammy woke up and shouted "Fitz is The Kingpin!?", referencing to the plot of Season 2 of Paradise PD. This was also a direct quote by Hopson from the episode, "PARAD-ISIS".
- In "The Great and Powerful Ozner", Miss Whiskers showed up, saying that she got frozen in the future and sent to outer space, making her a prominent character in both shows.
- In "Memory Wars", Fichael got a package delivered to him that had the Lovely Corp logo on it.
References to Farzar in Paradise P.D.[]
- In "A Star is Porn", there was a poster for a pornographic parody of the Farzar episode, "War and Peace" on the wall called "War and Piece of Ass", which depicted Renzo and Fichael riding a unicorn through space, naked. This picture comes from a t-shirt that Fichael had printed out in the original Farzar episode.
- In "Boat!", Robby huffed a bunch of gasoline, hallucinating himself as Flobby, Delbert and Belzert, and Dobby as a Dobby-shaped version of Zobo.
- In "King of the Norf", Randall, Dusty, and Fitz broke into a top secret hidden government lab and found a bunch of cryogenically frozen aliens enclosed inside of capsules. Among these aliens were Zobo, Flobby, Belzert, and Gorpzorp.
- In "Sack to the Future", Hobo Cop put on a fishbowl to wear as a space helmet and said that he was gunna be quitting the show and getting a new job on Farzar, since Paradise PD was a sinking ship.
- In "The Eternal Reckoning", one of the many floors of Lovely Corp was a void to outer space, where the planet Farzar, itself was presented front and center. When the elevator doors to Farzar opened up, the party dudes and Karen nearly got sucked into the vacuum of space.
- At the end of the episode, during the credits, Robby and Delbert acknowledged how their last episode ended on a cliffhanger and said that they'd be continuing and finishing up the storyline of Paradise PD sometime on the next coming season of Farzar.
Trivia[]
- Like Brickleberry, Farzar is confirmed to take place in the same universe as Paradise PD, only in Farzar's case, it's in a different galaxy.
- Farzar loosely draws inspiration from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, one of Roger Black and Waco O'Guin's favorite shows, growing up.
- Aside from sharing the same creators, Brickleberry, Paradise PD, and Farzar all have first episodes that start with the words "Welcome to", followed by the show's name:
- Brickleberry - Welcome to Brickleberry
- Paradise PD - Welcome to Paradise
- Farzar - Welcome to Farzar
- Before Season 4 of Paradise PD aired, Farzar foreshadowed the events of the season in their Season 1 episode, "Memory Wars", when a robot came to deliver Fichael a memory gun in a package that had the Lovely Corp logo on it.
- Despite airing afterwards, the idea of Farzar was actually thought up before Paradise PD. Roger and Waco initially pitched the idea of the show to Netflix c. 2017 but it was rejected since the network wasn't looking for sci-fi outer space shows at the time, so they did Paradise PD instead. [1]
- Certain elements of Paradise PD were originally going to be in Farzar if it had aired first but they were recycled into the former and scrapped from the latter. Earlier versions of Farzar included characters that would have eventually been recycled into Randall Crawford, Bullet, and Stanley Hopson.
- Waco O'Guin confirmed on Twitter that the series finale of Paradise PD will air in the form of a crossover episode with Farzar, during the latter show's second season. [2]
- However, due to the death of Lance Reddick and the 2023 Writers Strike, Farzar's second season never came to be, cancelling the crossover in the process, and leaving Farzar's season 1 finale "War and Peace" to be Farzar's series finale.
