Wendell is the father of Robby, the husband of Robby's Mom, and the illegally adoptive father of Delbert. He first appeared in "Who Ate Wally's Waffles?". He is voiced by Waco O'Guin.
Biography[]
In "Who Ate Wally's Waffles?", Wendell celebrated Robby's birthday along with the rest of the family, this being his wife, Delbert, and Robby's Meemaw. Robby kept on rudely demanding his father give him ridiculously expensive and/or unorthodox things for his birthday. Wendell would begin to try and reason with Robby, by politely declining and explaining why the said request is unreasonable but Robby would cut him off and demand it again, leading to Wendell sadly hanging his head and agreeing to give him whatever it is he asked for. One of the things Robby asked for was to ride in his Meemaw's iron lung. Wendell tried to tell him that this would kill her but Robby continued to demand this from him and Wendell sadly fetched his wrench and later took Meemaw out of the iron lung, killing her. After Meemaw died, Robby complained that she wasn't singing "Happy Birthday".
A flashback later revealed that in 1998, Robby demanded that his father kidnap the actor who plays Wall-Eyed Wally from the eponymous TV show. Wendell resisted at first but after Robby yelled at him, he agreed to go all the way down to Disney World, kidnap Wall-Eyed Wally's actor and bring him home for Robby's birthday. When they kidnapped the kid, Robby named him Delbert and used forgetting glue on him to make him forget his past and feel as though he's lived with their family his whole life.
In "Flip the Vote", Wendell made an appearance at Maddison's birthday party, working as an entertainer, who brought a horse for kids to pet and/or ride.
In "Ice Ice Babies", Wendell was disappointed with his son, Robby for opening Robby's Family Fun Time Carnival and starting a career out of that instead of going into the family business of shit-picking. A flashback showed a much younger Wendell fishing through the toilets of a public restroom and picking stuff out of people's shit, hoping to find something of value in there. Sometimes, he'd find corn to put food on the table and sometimes he'd get lucky and find pennies and dimes to use for money. This time, he found a paper clip, which he used for Robby's braces.
Wendell would later find out that Robby was storing tons of shit for picking in the port-a-potties at his carnival and became proud of his son once again, especially since he found an entire He-Man action playset in the big fat pile of shit.
In "How the Cookie Crumbles", Wendell and the rest of the Hick Family appeared on Dusty's low-budget Family Feud show. Wendell told Fitz about his job as a shit-picker, which Fitz had absolutely no interest in hearing about. When it came time to play the game, Wendell said that he had saved three shit-covered pennies for retirement and Fitz told him that this counted as three strikes, handing the first round over to the mutants.
In "The World According to LARP", Wendell saw Agent Clappers with a bag of dog shit on his head and rudely claimed that that shit belonged to him. Agent Clappers fought back and said he wanted to keep it for himself. Wendell challenged him to a Shit Pick-Off to determine who would truly own the piece of shit but this was cut for time.
Appearance[]
Wendell is an elderly Caucasian man who looks essentially like an older version of Robby. He is completely bald on top and has a bunch of sunspots but still has long, unkempt, shoulder-length gray hair running down his neck, that used to be blond when he was younger. He wears a red hat that says "ASS" in white text, black glasses, a white shirt, navy blue overalls with stains and patches on them, and brown shoes.
Personality[]
Wendell is a very miserable, downtrodden old man, who seems to have let the whole world make him it's bitch. He is a pathetic, submissive pushover who lets his son dominate his entire life. Wendell will give Robby whatever he wants and puts in minimal effort to try and argue and will quickly cave in, even when Robby places ridiculously tall orders, such as killing his grandmother so Robby could play in her iron lung or kidnapping an innocent child so that Robby could be friends with him. Deep down, Wendell doesn't want to do such shitty things and he tries to reason with his son, but Robby only needs to spit back at him once, and his father will give up and do as he's told.
He is a very pathetic man who works the not-so-glamorous job of shit-picking, wherein he fishes through piles of shit and claims ownership of whatever he picks out. This is his primary career and his only means of providing for his family. The things he usually finds in the shit piles he fishes through are bits of corn, which he serves to his family as food, paper clips, which he uses for his son's braces, and occasionally, some small coins such as pennies and dimes, which is his only source of monetary income. Wendell is a very desperate piece of shit who clings on to every single one of these pennies that comes his way and treats it like a gift from God.
